Very chewy and tangly noodles! Wow what a crisp draft beer. Only if it was bigger… The creamy udons are specialty dish and it’s good but if you are going with your partner, i think it’s a good mix to get one plain broth udon and one creamy one to balance the meal out. Takoyaki was very good.

We went on a weekday so not much a wait. We were intrigued by the ramen carbonara and had to try it and it was 10/10

I was in Little Tokyo and wanted something light but filling. I was welcomed by friendly staff who quickly ushered me in to sit down. I came at 5 PM on a Thursday so it was not too packed. I started with the appetizers, crispy chicken skin and umami-rich eggplant. I could eat two plates of the eggplant! The cold egg udon was great, very refreshing and light, and I loved the egg. My friend got the beef udon (warm broth) and it was savory and rich. I liked the beef udon more! Food came out quick and the noodles were so fresh. I highly recommend coming here! Will be back.

Marugame Monzo is a true gem in Little Tokyo, offering one of the most memorable udon experiences in Los Angeles. Their creative approach to this beloved Japanese comfort food elevates it far beyond the ordinary. The tempura arrives hot, golden, and perfectly crisp—each bite showcasing expert technique. The fish roe shrimp udon stands out for its remarkable depth of flavor and the superb, chewy texture of the noodles that captures the essence of authentic Japanese craftsmanship. Though the restaurant is small and often bustling, the wait is absolutely worth it. Every bowl here reflects care, precision, and genuine artistry—making Marugame Monzo one of the finest udon destinations I’ve had the pleasure of visiting.

Best udon and totally worth the wait! The broth is so flavorful and the udon is sooo good. The udon noodles are house made. No matter if you get hot, cold, or creamy udon, they all tastes good. We highly recommend this udon place is you’re in Japan Town.

I had an excellent dining experience at this ramen restaurant. The ramen itself was rich and flavorful, with a broth that was deeply comforting and well-balanced—a true highlight of the dish. The noodles were fresh, perfectly cooked, and complemented by generous, high-quality toppings. The side dishes added the perfect finishing touch, rounding out a satisfying meal. The restaurant maintains a clean and inviting environment, and the atmosphere feels authentic, reflecting traditional ramen culture. Service was prompt, attentive, and friendly, ensuring a seamless dining experience. Overall, this location excels in both food quality and customer experience, making it highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable ramen meal. Whether you are a ramen aficionado or trying it for the first time, the combination of flavorful broth, fresh noodles, and thoughtful service makes this restaurant a standout choice.

A STAPLE in little Tokyo for hands down the Best UDON in LA!!! This place gets packed so be prepared for that! There is a sign up sheet so make sure you sign up as soon as you get there! Monday night 7:30-8pm is usually a really good time to go as it’s a bit slower! Service is always and will always be amazing and prompt! Everything is made to order and the UDON is made on house!! If it’s your first time, may I suggest a few things to have? Shrimp tempura ( you order it by piece) Chicken Skin Fried chicken (Karage) Uni Udon and Beef Udon are great ones to have if it’s your first time there you won’t be disappointed!

If you’ve never tried this place, it should definitely be on your list to try. It’s one of our top restaurants when we visit Little Tokyo, been coming here for years before the pandemic and I’m glad this place survived. The place is small, with outdoor seating available, Service is always fantastic and the wait isn’t usually too long. I will say I miss the days when you can see the chefs preparing the udon in front of you. It was an art. Now I think everything is pre-prepared. The udon is cooked perfectly, never had an issue Our go-to dish is the Sea Urchin udon. Rich, creamy, and delicious uni cream sauce with actual uni you can eat by itself or mixed in. It’s also surprisingly not too heavy of a dish so it’s perfect to have anytime whereas the carbonara is just too heavy for us to have all the time Opted for the beef udon with jidori egg udon. Cooked perfectly. Beef isn’t too sweet with the broth and egg mixed in. Fried chicken skin is delicious. Personally I would ask for the sauce to be on the side to use for dipping as some pieces don’t get enough sauce and some are drenched in it. As long as they’re open, they’ll always be one of our top options when we’re in the area.

I love everything about this place but the wait to get in! Great atmosphere with amazing service. The food is to gush for and it has very good portions as well. The pricing is good for the quality. ANY time I want some udon, this is my spot hands down.

Small udon restaurant that has a Michelin star. Absolutely delicious udon. Loved their seafood curry udon. My husband got a broth udon that he loved. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Can’t wait to come back and try another dish.
